Forbes Marshall Flash Vessel FMFV
When condensate at a higher pressure is discharged at a lower pressure, a part of it is flashed. While many plants recover condensate without flashing it, the separation of condensate and flash steam prior to heat recovery is much more efficient and beneficial.
Installing a Forbes Marshall Flash Vessel is the most reliable and efficient way of separating condensate and flash steam before heat recovery. Flash steam contains 40 to 50% of the total energy in condensate and can be reused in low pressure applications. The Flash Vessel is a simple vessel in which when high pressure condensate is released, the flash steam is separated out and recovered from the top. The flash steam separated in the flash vessel can be further utilized for low-pressure steam using processes.

Frequently Asked Questions
While both of the above options fully utilise the het content, generating steam has its own associated losses. When we separate out flash steam, we get ready-to-use low pressure steam generating which would otherwise lead to a certain amount of losses.
