Compact Module Two Orifice Float Trap CMTOFT™

CMTOFT is a compact trap module which includes a two orifice float trap along with pre-assembled provision for seamless installation, isolation and bypassing of the trap. Since CMTOFT is designed as a module, it is significantly compact and easy to install, operate and maintain.

At the heart of CMTOFT is a two orifice float trap. When condensate enters the trap body, the float lifts up and opens the first orifice allowing condensate to discharge. During start up and peak load conditions, additional lift of the float causes the second orifice to open, thereby enabling the TOFT / CMTOFT to handle both start up and running conditions effectively.

Inability to maintain traps can lead to lowered process productivity on account of increased batch timings. CMTOFT facilitates quick and easy maintenance of the TOFT and hence ensures higher process throughput all the time.

    Frequently Asked Questions.

What is the benefit of two small orifices instead of one large orifice?

As the diameter of the orifice increases, the size of the float assembly to operate it as well as the pressure required to offer tight shut-off also increases. This leads to increased radiation losses due to larger trap size and leakages due to lack of enough closing pressure. A two orifice float trap takes care of both of these issues.

What is the function of a two orifice float trap like the CMTOFT?

Two orifice float traps like the CMTOFT efficiently remove condensate from steam systems using two orifices controlled by a float. This ensures optimal drainage during startup, normal, and peak conditions.

How does the CMTOFT handle varying load conditions?

The two-orifice system efficiently discharges condensate during normal operation, while the second orifice activates under peak load conditions, ensuring seamless performance.

What maintenance features are included with the CMTOFT?

The CMTOFT includes several maintenance-friendly features such as upstream and downstream isolation valves, a bypass valve, non-return valve, and automatic air venting. Additionally, it offers a trap monitoring sensor port to integrate with Forbes Marshall’s steam trap monitoring system.

How does the CMTOFT enhance process productivity?

The trap offers easy maintenance that helps minimise downtime, ensuring consistent process throughput and reducing delays caused by ineffective condensate removal.
