PUNE: Kasarwadi-based engineering major, Forbes Marshall, has launched two new social projects in the Chakan area in the field of women’s skill development and children’s healthcare. This follows the company’s purchasing land in the Chakan industrial area.

For the first project, Forbes Marshall joined hands with the city-based voluntary organisation, Yuva Parivartan, to start a certificate course in basic tailoring for women. The company is also training women with skills required to practice as a beautician and has introduced skill training for one high school in Chakan.

Speaking to Sakal Times on Thursday, Rati Forbes, Director, Forbes Marshall said, “Our company has always believed in working with communities close to our factories. We began by meeting the local community members and understanding their needs and expectations. Based on these dialogues, we have started these two latest initiatives.”

For the second project, Forbes Marshall joined hands with Kitab Korner educational foundation and has been organising summer camps for children of four Zilla Parishad schools in Chakan.

According to Forbes, this project also includes awareness campaigns for better parenting and women’s health sessions.

Forbes also told Sakal Times that her company was keen to start an effective solid waste management project in phase II of the Chakan Industrial area in collaboration with Sandvik Asia Private Limited.

“We are planning to start a CSR forum for Chakan phase 2. One of the first initiatives could be a collaborative project on solid waste management. We plan to conduct a preliminary management study soon,” Forbes said.
