Forbes Marshall recognised as an Energy Service Company by BEE

Forbes Marshall has been recognised as an Energy Service Company (ESCO) by Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) Ministry of Power, Government of India and assigned a Grade 1 rating by CRISIL under the BEE scheme. The grading is based on a very intensive scrutiny and is in the range of 1 to 5 with 1 being very high and 5 being poor. Forbes Marshall is, one of the ten companies that have got ‘Very High’ grade out of about a hundred organisations enlisted by BEE.

Bureau of Energy Efficiency is promoting energy efficiency measures in the country under the Energy Conservation Act, 2001. In order to encourage energy conservation measures in existing facilities and buildings, BEE has shortlisted organisations through the ESCO route. The actual rating is done by CRISIL, a Standard & Poor’s company, and is valid for two years.

The Grading of ESCOS by CRISIL is done on three broad parameters, track record and market position, organisational risks and financial risks. The data on these parameters is obtained from the applicants and meetings are held with key officials in the technical, marketing and financial functions. Feedback is also taken from customers as well as bankers. The score for Grade 1 is 85 and higher, which reflects very high ability to carry out energy audits and implement energy saving projects.

The Forbes Marshall model is based on guaranteed performance on savings and service contracts. This accreditation means that capital expenditure for renovation and revamping of facilities recommended for energy savings will be eligible for better funding. Also, as a PAT (perform achieve and trade) ESCO, Forbes Marshall will now get into a wider area of energy savings, with all the PAT schemes as a Designated Energy (DENA) Auditor.
