Industry-Academia Connect

Knowledge-building, every step of the way

At Forbes Marshall, we believe that learning is a lifelong journey. Our academic programs and initiatives encompass this — making it easier for talent to access the skills needed to grow and develop in their careers. We’re fortunate to have a dedicated and passionate team responsible for developing our academic interactions while sharing some of our biggest takeaways from over 75 years in the industry. Over time, our learning initiatives have evolved beyond internships, into a multifaceted and robust programme. Today, we’re privileged to play a role in nurturing the minds of young engineers, economists and scientists, having transformed into a trusted source of knowledge for collaborations between education and industry.
Our ‘Steam Engineering Programmes’ that combine hands-on exposure with theoretical inputs, is but one example of knowledge sharing initiatives.

Partnerships and Collaborations

We work closely with leading academic institutions to understand the needs of the fraternity and provide up-to-date industrial skills and knowledge. Our Thermodynamics Connect programme is dedicated to improving teaching and learning in Thermal, Design & Materials Engineering. We work with faculty members and students through sponsored projects, sabbaticals, and competitions (to name a few). We have ties with several prominent educational institutes, both within India and overseas for training, joint studies and faculty development programs. We have a state-of-the-art training centre at our facility in Chakan, Pune where students and faculty members attend training programmes, perform experiments and run projects. We also run an expert talk series for members of Industry and Academia, both online and offline, for extensive knowledge-sharing.

Celebrating Talent and Innovation

The Forbes Marshall Outstanding Project Awards, established in 1992, is dedicated to recognising talent in our field. The competition for undergraduate engineering students highlights the effort and innovation put into final-year projects. The projects are evaluated by Industry experts and the winning team receives a certification and monetary award from Forbes Marshall.

Accessible Learning

Lastly, accessibility is vital to our learning initiatives, and as part of the Continued Education Programmes under the New Education Policy, we offer short-duration courses for participants seeking to upskill themselves. In collaboration with IIT Bombay, we’re also proud to have our own flipped classroom on BodhiTree. The recorded courses on Thermodynamics and Control Systems are run annually and are available to members across the globe. These are a few examples of the several industry-academia endeavours we run. Educating the next generation is ingrained in our company culture.
