Jigger Dyeing Machines

A jigger is used for dyeing cotton fabrics and comes in two types: open jigger and closed jigger. It consists of a V-shaped stainless steel vessel that serves as the dye bath. The fabric moves back and forth from the take-up roller (driver roller) to the let-off roller (delivery roller) through the dye bath until the dye is fully absorbed. The heating pattern varies depending on the machine, with some using direct heating and others employing indirect heating to achieve the desired dyeing effect.

Typical issues in Jigger include:

  • Excess steam consumption due to inefficient temperature control.
  • Increase in liquor ratio due to excess steam injection, impacts concentration of dye
  • Inefficient temperature control hampers color fixation
