EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety)
Our Commitment to EHS Excellence
A Culture of Safety and Sustainability
At Forbes Marshall, we foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and employee engagement to ensure the highest standards of environmental, health, and safety practices. Our team combines in-depth knowledge and through research to put in place processes for workplace safety and to meet our sustainability goals. We also hold our vendors, suppliers, and other third parties to rigorous standards, expecting them to strive for excellence in environmental, health, and safety practices.
Caring for the planet
Our primary emphasis is on the principles of reduction, reuse and recycling across all our operational processes, with specialised training provided to our personnel. Our EHS initiatives also include the incorporation of renewable energy. We work with an extensive installation of solar panels, generating a substantial 18,000 units of power to our manufacturing unit at Chakan, Pune. Our facilities are designed to make maximum use of natural sunlight, with minimal use of artificial lighting during the day.
Our water consumption is continuously monitored and optimised with the help of ‘EverSense’ and UTISense’ — both of which are proprietary software of the Forbes Marshall Group. All wastewater from the facilities is recycled for gardening purposes, with residual waste and hazardous waste segregated for disposal. In addition, we have aligned our processes to achieve sustainability within our operations. These include practices such as wood elimination, achieving zero discharge and optimising electricity consumption to reduce our carbon footprint. Apart from this, we have also worked on minimising fossil fuel usage, substituting hazardous chemicals with environmentally friendly alternatives, and selecting gases with minimal greenhouse impact. We have integrated Industry 4.0 technology into our sustainability practices and strive to make significant contributions towards reducing our carbon footprint and fostering environmental stewardship.
Furthermore, we are dedicated to fostering a sustainable supply chain, recognising its profound impact on reducing the environmental footprint, promoting social responsibility, and ensuring long-term economic viability.
At Forbes Marshall, the well-being of our members equals the well-being of our organisation as a whole. We know that good health contributes to an atmosphere where everyone can do their best. We have implemented several measures to ensure that our personnel is not exposed to hazardous chemicals, dust, mist and smoke.
Collaborating closely with specialists in the field, we nurture a culture of compassion and fulfilment. Tools and resources (such as our daycare for children of members based in Pune), along with wellness workshops, counselling services, and stress management programmes facilitate a work-life balance. Acknowledging diverse individual needs and commitments, we offer flexible working hours and remote work options.

Putting safety first
We are committed to the implementation of and compliance with safe work practices. Through rigorous research, and under the guidance of our highly-specialised team, we have implemented the best practices in the industry, in line with the Bradley curve. In addition to providing world-class personal protection equipment to all our shop floor members, we also record and investigate incidents via our Indonis app, and have implemented controlled measures to prevent them from happening in the future. Safety training and awareness programs are also conducted, with the active participation of all stakeholders.
We are consistent in educating our members about safety at work and reward them for continuing these initiatives. Moreover, we value the integration of safety and the environment into our daily operations. Every one of our facilities is certified to meet the ISO 45001:2018 (health & safety) and ISO 14001:2015 (environmental) standards. The Shehernaz Medicare Centre at our Kasarwadi, Pune premises is equipped to cater to the health of and oversee medical emergencies of our members. We also have a primary healthcare facility at our Chakan premises.
We are powered by a spirit of innovation, and at no point will an improvement in quality, cost, or delivery be done at the expense of safety.
Our ultimate priority is to ensure that each of our members, and those who work on behalf of us, return home safely after their work day.
